Urnfield Development

A PR company, Instinctif, are holding what they call “a consultation exhibition” about the on-going reserve matters to be finalised for the 150 home development north of Moulsham Lane. It will be at The Tythings on the 7th November between 16.30 and 19.00 hours.

Monthly Meeting

At the monthly meeting on Thursday 26th October, Robert Belcher will be giving a talk about his new book about Blackbushe Airport, ‘London’s Lost Airport 1942 – 1960’.  It will be at the Red Cross Hall, Monteagle lane and start time is 19.45.

Urnfield Development

The Urnfield developer has submitted an Archaeological Written Statement of Investigation (WSI) for the Urnfield site. This is one of the Reserve Matters (Condition 25) to be completed before building can commence. The next meeting of the YDF neighbourhood Development Plan Steering Group is Tuesday 17th October at the Tythings,  start time 19.30. It is not only open to the public but you will also be invited to participate in our discussions.

Yateley Society will be at the May Fayre on Monday 1st May. We will be in our new gazebo so please come along and see us. We will be advertising our new book “Yateley in the Great War” which will be published next year to commemorate the end of the 1914 – 18 great war.

Some good news at last! Bovis has withdrawn its appeal against Hart Council’s decision to refuse planning permission for 121 homes along Marsh Lane.

Battle of the Somme

One hundred years ago on the 1st July 1916 thousands of men rose from their trenches and walked across no-mans land towards the German positions. Thousands died many more were wounded. Read on our History pages how Yateley men were part of this terrible event.

The appeal inquiry has ended. Yateley Society, YURAG, councillors and residents have all addressed the inquiry stating that this is not a good place to build a new estate of 150 homes. There are better options in Hart. Within the next few weeks we will know the planning inspectors decision.
